Frequently Asked Questions

The age limit for IVF can vary, but it is generally recommended for women up to the age of 45. However, success rates decrease significantly after the age of 40. Some clinics may have their own specific age restrictions.

If the sperm count is very low (oligospermia) or there is no sperm (azoospermia), there are several options available. Techniques like Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) can be used, where a single sperm is injected directly into an egg. In cases of azoospermia, sperm can sometimes be retrieved surgically.

The IVF process typically takes about 4-6 weeks per cycle. This includes the time for ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, fertilization, and embryo transfer. Additional time may be needed for preliminary evaluations and tests.

The risk of miscarriage in IVF pregnancies is comparable to that of natural pregnancies and is primarily related to the age of the mother and the quality of the embryos. However, certain underlying conditions or factors related to infertility can increase the risk.

There is no strict limit to the number of IVF attempts. However, it is generally recommended to reassess after 3-4 unsuccessful cycles. The decision to continue or stop treatment depends on various factors, including age, the cause of infertility, and emotional and financial considerations.

Yes, like any medical procedure, IVF treatment comes with potential side effects and risks. Common side effects include mild bloating, cramping, breast tenderness, and mood swings. More serious risks, though rare, include ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), multiple pregnancies, ectopic pregnancy, and complications from egg retrieval. It’s important to discuss these potential risks with your fertility specialist before starting treatment.

Yes, preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) can be used to determine the sex of the embryos before transfer. However, this practice is subject to ethical and legal considerations and is not allowed in all countries.

The treatment protocol in IVF is personalized based on various factors, including the woman’s age, ovarian reserve, medical history, and the specific cause of infertility. A fertility specialist will tailor the protocol to optimize the chances of success.

Yes, healthy embryo selection is possible through techniques such as preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), which can screen embryos for genetic abnormalities before transfer, thereby increasing the chances of a successful pregnancy and reducing the risk of genetic disorders.

Many of the medications used in IVF treatment, such as hormone injections, can be self-administered at home. Your fertility clinic will provide detailed instructions and training on how to do this safely.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut laoreet dolore magna aliquam erat volutpat.

IVF is often considered after other fertility treatments have failed, but it is not always the last resort. It is one of several assisted reproductive technologies available, and its use depends on the specific circumstances of the couple or individual seeking treatment.
